About Us

Skateboarding is more than an activity, it’s a community.

About us

Welcome to our movement

In that community, we found identity, purpose, friendship, failure, respect, broken bones, determination, and the chance to Push ourselves in a never ending journey of progression. But, like all communities, there was an unhealthy side. Many of us found that out the hard way, and the cost of those decisions affected every part of our lives.

Push Movement is our way of sharing the lessons from our lived experiences. Through our own recovery, we are working to inspire the community we came from, and offer them something we never had – a healthier version of the thing we still love the most.

BRENT ATCHLEY

Founder, Executive Director, Professional Skateboarder, CRM

Brent grew up in Southeast Portland, where he found skateboarding at an early age. At Burnside Skatepark, he connected with a like-minded group of people coming from all walks of life, but he also found alcohol and substances – developing an addiction that over the next fifteen years, grew to dominate his life and professional skateboarding career. After the birth of his daughter, however, he fully committed to his recovery journey and now dedicates his time to help others on their individual paths both within the skateboarding community and outside of it.

MICHAEL MCLOUD

Media Director, Videographer, CRM

Michael is a Native American skateboarder from Vancouver, Washington. He grew up in a family that struggled with substance abuse and is no stranger to the positive effects skateboarding culture can have on both youth and adults. Fortunately, both of his parents were committed to their own recovery journeys and were able to support Michael through his later down the line. This also brought him back to his love of skateboarding, and in turn, our organization. He now gives back to the skateboard community through his work with substance abuse prevention and recovery.

STEVIE MOE

Operations Director, MA, CRM

Stevie has worked with a diverse expanse of nonprofits over twenty years. She has grown up in the skateboarding community since she was in middle school. The household of her earlier life was fueled by alcohol, lending Stevie firsthand exposure to the failures (and successes) of community-based recovery and prevention organizations. She, like many other skateboarders in their younger years, relied on the space and people as a haven during life’s toughest moments. Through her learned experience, she looks forward to bridging the gap between youth prevention and adult recovery – providing a safe space for anyone in their life journey.
